Huawei holds Africa Connect; highlights potential for future digital advancement

Huawei has held its 2024 edition of Africa Connect, focusing on the impact the of digital era in sectors like finance, transportation, internet service provision (ISP) and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Africa.

Held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, the event marked a new era for enterprise-focused annual gathering, with Huawei senior leaders expressing their commitment to the continent.

The Executive Director of the Board and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Managing Board for Huawei, David Wang emphasized that the company’s investment of $156 billion in Research and Experimental Development (R&D) over the last decade has positioned the company as an industry leader.

He mentioned that Huawei focuses on networks, storage, computing, and cloud, working with partners to tailor ICT infrastructure products and solutions to customers’ specific business scenarios.

However, Wang lauded the continent’s young population, growing cities, and innovative strides across various industries, including fintech and clean energy. He highlighted the unprecedented opportunity for Africa to reshape its future through digital advancements. Gao’s comments underscored the potential for significant transformation in the region driven by technological innovation.

The event spotlighted the impact of the intelligent digital era on sectors such as finance, transportation, manufacturing, internet service provision (ISP), and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Africa.

Huawei experts presented their insights, detailing how the company’s products and services will play a crucial role in this new era. They emphasized the importance of tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of these sectors.
